Hanns Schell pre-celebrated his 70th birthday last Friday!

He ascended Gasherbrum I in 1975, Nanga Parbat in 1976 (new route, named Schell route since then), Gasherbrum II in 1979 and Shisha Pangma in 1985. He also achieved five first ascents of 7000ers with other Austrian pioneers, Momhil Sar (7343 m) with Rudolf Pischinger, Horst Schindelbacher, Leo Schlömmer and Rudolf Widerhofer in 1964; Akher Tsagh (7017 m) with Rainer Göschl in 1966; Diran (Minapin, 7266 m) with Rainer Göschl and Rudolf Pischinger in 1968; Malubiting (7453 m) with Kurt Pirker, Horst Schindelbacher and Hilmar Sturm in 1971 and Urdok Kangri I (7250 m) with Karl Hub, Robert Schauer, Lieselotte Schell and Herbert Zefferer in 1975.
