There is a fine peak to the North of the massif culmination. This photo shows why Günter Oskar Dyhrenfurth wrote, that especially this peak should be the only one of the subdiaries, that has a relative independence, which reflects well in being the only B-Peak above 8000 metres in the "Elevation Equality" classification:

Last year was the 50th anniversary of the first ascent. On June 9th was a fine celebration in Salzburg, Austria. Fritz Wintersteller Jr. and Reinhold Schmuck, the sons of two of the first ascenders organized this fine meeting. You can find more information about Broad Peak at http://www.broadpeak.org/en/.
